Canon have announced two new tilt and shift (TS-E) lenses: an updated 24mm lens, the TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II, and a new addition to the line up, the TS-E 17mm f/4L.
The Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II, as the name suggests, is a new version of the current TS-E 24mm. The new version ow includes Canon’s sub-wavelength structure coating (SWC) – Canon’s patented lens coating is specifically designed to minimise ghosting and flare caused by internal reflections to help deliver crisp, clear images.
The Canon TS-E 17mm f/4L adds a new focal length to Canons tilt and shift range, and has the widest view angle of any tilt and shift lens currently available. Canon say that, coupled with outstanding image quality across the whole frame, it is an ideal choice for architectural or landscape photography.
Both lenses should be available from May 2009, the TS-E 17mm f/4L with a RRP of £2749.99, and the TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II for £2399.99.
The two new tilt and shift lenses will mean Canon has a line up of four TS-Es, the other two being the Canon TSE 45mm and the Canon TSE 90mm.
