Photography Shop Search

A new photography shop search facility is currently in beta test. This is a new feature which I think you will find very useful.

So what is it? It lets you search our database of products at shops. In many cases this contains every product sold by a shop, not just the products in the Camera Price Buster price comparison listings. So, if you are trying to buy something not listed on Camera Price Buster, you can search for it and find out who sells it – and of course click straight through to it. This is considerably easier then trying to use a normal search engine to find who sells a product – only shops are included in the results.

Imagine you are trying to buy a particular make of film or a lens by a third party manufacturer not included on CPB – the photography shop search will help you find it. Of course, if the product you want is already on CPB then that is a better place to look – the shop search is not a replacement for our price comparison listings.

    I’d be very surprised to find that Amazon is a shop . . I searched for the Tamron 24-70mm and that was the outlet at the top of the list . . I was expecting a process that allow me to identify shops in my own area that would supply this product . . which would be very useful . .but what you’re offering is something only very slightly different from clicking on the manufacturer’s name in the main menu . . . I don’t really see the point. . .

      The point is to find products that are not directly listed on Camera Price Buster, and would therefore not be found by navigating down from the manufacturer in the main menu. With a suitable search, you can quickly find all the online shops that sell such an item – pretty much any photography related item. By only showing you products sold at shops, you have a much easier time sourcing something than you would using a normal search engine like google. It is not however a directory of offline shops, so would not provide what you were looking for.
