Nikon have today announced the new Nikon D5200 DX format dslr, the follow up to the D5100. It features a 24 megapixel sensor and the EXPEED 3 image processor, which “provides high-speed operation and excellent, rich colour reproduction – as well as enhanced movie recording”. The D5200 has the same autofocus and metering system as the D7000, and has a vari-angle lcd screen which you can flip out and tilt and swivel.
Although it has no built in wifi, you can use the Wireless Mobile Adaptor WU-1a with it, allowing you to control the camera remotely from an app on a suitable device (such as an android phone) and transmit images wirelessly. Key features are as follows:
- 24.1 Megapixel DX format CMOS sensor
- EXPEED 3 image processor
- Vari-angle LCD screen
- ISO range 100-6400, extendable to 25600
- 5 frames per second shooting
- 39 point Autofocus system
- Full 1080p HD movies
The D5200 will be available in bronze, red and of course black, and will be offered in a variety of different lens kits.
The D5200 is due for release on the 6th December, no news yet on the RRP but you can see the first pre-order prices below, which normally match the RRP to begin with. Nikon D5200 press release here, and D5200 product page here.
