New Site Design

I’m working on a new site design for Camera Price Buster, and could do with some testing.

If you are feeling helpful, please have a look at the new design here, and let me know if you have any problems. I’m expecting the odd browser compatibility issue. If it all looks a bit wrong, please let me know which browser and version you have, and if possible send over a screenshot (to matt@camerapricebuster.com).

I’d also appreciate any general comments and suggestions.

Thanks!

Thanks for all the feedback. I’m making a few minor changes to replicate features from the old site at the moment.

Regarding the navigation, I will see if I can break out the non-camera-manufacturer accessories (bags, tripods, cards) to a new section and keep the by-manufacturer listings for the main camera section. The navigation was getting out of hand, the main resaon for redesigning the site as it happens.

Great idea about manufacturer specific price drops, will add that when I can.

I’m planning on adding some new features for registered users, including a customised watch list for the home page (a bit like the watch list in the android app).

Looks well. On the right track me thinks. Maybe more options for memory cards? Runs fine on Vista + chrome. Thanks for all the work you put in. Lifesaver. Good luck, Take care. Al

New site looks great on a samsung galaxy tab 10.1 running Chrome for android.

I like it. Seems to work well with Windows 7 64 bit plus Firefox 15.0

Displays are much cleaner. Like the inclusion of eBay – helps the competeive pressure on mainstreet retailers.

Would like the option to see accessories listed by type rather than just by manufacturers – it’s much harder to compare eg all tripods when you have to search through each manufacturer.

Well done and keep up the good work.

It would be great to have some new features. interactive (scrollable zoomable) graphs (but please don’t use flash). option to download prices as csv. sorting of prices drops by percent drop (£0.01 drop on a £2k item is not very front page worthy).

    Thanks

All looks very good. Works well with no apparent issues on Firefox 15.0 / Win7.

I like the ‘Today’s Price Drops’ on the home page. How about adding these filtered by brand to the brand specific pages? For example, I only shoot Pentax, so I only ever look at the Pentax page. Knowing that a dozen Canon/Nikon lenses are cheaper today is not relevant to me, and hides the one price drop that might be. On the old site there are little coloured flags that give me the same info, but they’re not present on the new site.

Looks nice, perhaps the only improvement would be to make your logo at the top left a little more prominent – it looks a little lost on the page. Also perhaps have a ‘ribbon’ running at the top with tabs such as “About us” “Contact” “Blog etc.

Seems to work fine on my desktop running Windows 7. Liked the format and the inclusion of possible grey import suppliers.

It works great with Windows XP Pro, IE 8.0.

I’m not so sure about losing sections such as Tripods and Photo Printers, they’re harder to browse by Manufacturer only.

Seems a bit better for iPad as touching anywhere on the product line is easier than trying to hit the old view button.

The ‘select products’ frame is a bit clumsy visually, but otherwise it’s a great improvement -clour is good and weight of text …. looks like a purposeful site that knows what it’s doing! No problems with Safari.
