The new SP AF11-18mm F/4.5-5.6 Di-II LD Aspherical (IF), an ultra wideangle zoom lens, is Tamron's first lens designed for exclusive use with digital SLR cameras using APS-C size image sensors. The lens provides reliable performance in a compact size to meet the needs of digital SLR camera users pursuing creativity in wideangle photography. The lens uses a new optical system specially designed for digital SLR cameras, in addition to the use of a glass-molded aspherical element having a large clear aperture, hybrid aspherical elements, and elements using such special glass materials as high index/high dispersion glass and low dispersion optical glass, for outstanding optical performance.

This Lens Really Rocks!! It delivers Pin Sharp Results across the full focal range & at all f stops, although f8 seems to give the Best Results.The Build quality is Superb & the Lens Hood (Supplied) is also Excellent.( Budget around £20 for a Canon Lens Hood of equal quality)
The AF is Lightning Fast & Super Quiet,& certainly on The Canon,it is marginally Short of the USM, but in practice, we are talking fractions of a second.The Tamron Brand, In my Opinion,is Hugely under-rated & as a Professional Photographer for over 25 years, I have used & own, many lenses, including L lenses & the Canon 10 - 22mm lens.I think this lens certainly equals it & in some areas, beats it !
On a recent trip to Las Vegas, this Tamron stayed on my 40D 70% of the time & the results (A3+) are superb!Do Not get bogged down with Lab Results !!
OK, the Zoom ring works backwards to a Canon, but with a DSLR, what you see, is what you get! NO Problem!
If you are thinking of buying this lens, have NO Hesitation, it really is Superb !! Highly Reccomended !!
