The highlight of the Panasonic FZ72 is undoubtedly the 60x optical zoom. This equates to an astonishing 20-1200mm in 35mm equivalent terms, meaning you would need a lens with that focal length range on a full frame SLR to achieve the same image zoom range. Whilst the upper end of the zoom range is obviously massive, the 20mm equivalent lower end is notably wide as well, making it an amazingly versatile camera. To make the ultra zoom usable, the Panasonic FZ72 comes with optical image stabilisation, called POWER O.I.S. by Panasonic. You can extend the zoom range even further with the addition of the optional DMW-LT55 conversion lens - although I can't really see why you would want to! The FZ72 has a 16.1 megapixel sensor, and can shoot at up to 9 frames per second. You can of course shoot full HD video.
