This well made, compact, teleconverter takes one and a half stops of light but gains 1.7 in magnification, its performance is OK but needs to be stopped down a little to be considered good. A 300mm lens will become an 510mm equivalent using the TC-17E II for example. There wasnt a mark I incidentally.
It will not stack with other Nikon TCs. Designed for fast, as in big and heavy telephoto lenses, like the 200mm f2, 300mm f2.8 and 400mm f2.8. See the Nikon websites for exact matches.
