Canon have today announced the EOS 500D. Headline features include:
- 15 Megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor
- HD movie recording.
- 3.4 frames per second shooting
- DIGIC 4 processor
As you might expect, it also includes features similar to the current EOS 450D such as the integrated cleaning system and live view mode.
For the full press release, see the Canon UK site.
The EOS 500D should be available from early May, with the following indicated pricing:
The EOS 500D body priced at £869.99 RRP inc. VAT.
The EOS 500D EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Kit at £969.99 RRP inc. VAT.
The EOS 500D EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Kit at £1399.99 RRP inc. VAT.
You can already pre-order teh 500D from shops such as Warehouse Express, where they are offering the 500D body with a couple of free extras for £869. Of course, if you are not in a hurry and can wiat for three or so months, then you can expect to pay considerably less (see the price history for the EOS 450D for comparison).
I will of course be adding 500D price comparison to the site, probably in the second half of April.
