I’ve just been adding some more shops to the site, but really would like to list more. If you know of any that are missing, then please let me know provided they sell genuine UK stock and allow you to order online. Better still, if you have a contact at a suitable shop, then it would be great if you could suggest to them that they contact me and get added to the site. There are a few shops that I have contacted via their websites to seek their permission to list them, but have not had any reply from – this is probably because my messages are getting lost in the general spam. My goal is to list every online UK camera shop selling UK stock, but I could do with some help getting them on board!

Although they are a Hong Kong shop, and as such selling imports into the UK, they do pay the VAT and import charges. I have started listing them in separate box under the main listings so that you can compare the sort of price you would pay for an import against UK stock prices.

I’ve not tried a purchase but very competitive prices
http://www.simplyelectronics.net/
poor reviews though so be warned

Simply do not meet the criteria for a listing on Camera Price Buster. However, if you want to compare them then check out Photino.co.uk which includes them.

Hi I use your site a lot thanks – I am a camera addict. I have had some good bargains from http://www.devoncamera.co.uk they have two shops that I know of and provide a very good service. Sometimes cheaper than anything on your lists. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Paul. I think I used to list Devon Cameras, but at some point the listings must have broken. When I have a moment I will try and list them again.

How about iGadjit.co.uk in Manchester?
-
Thanks for the suggestion George. I previously did not think that iGadjit met the criteria for a listing on Camera Price Buster, but looking at their site now it seems they do sell UK stock, so I will get in touch with them to try and confirm this. If you want to compare them for now then they are listed on Photino.
Update: I’ve had a closer look at their site, and some items are marked as UK stock and some are not (so presumably the ones that are not are imports). Currently this means that I cannot list them on Camera Price Buster, as I try to only list UK stock items.

i have noticed some shops are listed on Canon cameras but not Nikon cameras even though they sell them.
eg – Martins Camera Shop http://www.martinscamerashop.co.uk/

There a a few shops which I am in the process of adding. I tend to add them to one category (normally some SLRs) and the pause to check the listings are working and to gauge any response from visitors (sometimes I get a barrage of complaints about a shop which may make me hesitate to add it).
One shop I’d like to add, but have not had any response from, is the London Camera Exchange – I think they are the only Canon authorised e-tailer not on my site. Anyone have a contact with them?

I am looking for a Canon 5D Mark III body in UK. On Amazon UK I found the shop Arnold Brook offering the camera body at £2,480 with 12 months Canon UK warranty:
This is about £300 lower than the shops on your list. Why is the shop not on your list?
-
The seller you mention on Amazon do not seem to have a shop in their own right, so I cannot add a normal shop listing for them. I do not list Amazon Marketplace sellers on Camera Price Buster, as many of them are selling grey imports (but there is no way of knowing which). And even if I wanted to, Amazon for unknown reasons will not provide me with data for individual sellers.
Typically when you see a price that is so much lower than anyone else, you should be cautious – it sometimes means it is a grey import. If you are not concerned by grey imports, then hop over to Photino for an unfiltered list.

Matt,
I think Jacobs might still be going. I walk past one of their shops most mornings and their website still seems to be running.

Regarding Jacobs, I think the situation is a bit uncertain, so I’m going to wait and see what happens. They are still running in administration – see here – but I would hesitate to buy on line from them. Different matter if you can walk into a shop and walk out with a camera of course!

Matt,
A random list of names some of whihc I’m guessing either don’t hold UK stock or your lost in the spam with.
Jessops
Jacobs
Argos
Grays of Westminster (large range of second hand stock)
Play
Dabs
Curry’s
Comet
PC World
EbuyerCan’t think of any more off the top of me head.
-
OK, thats a nice long list…
Jessops: currently listed for most product, but some are missing.
Jacobs: went into administration I believe so I have taken them off the site.
Argos: should be in the listings.
Grays: do not allow you to order on line, so not suitable.
Play: as far as I recall, I removed them as I could not distinguish between items sold by Play and items sold by their market sellers.
Dabs: I currently have limited listings for them, I’ll review them again I think. They do not allow me direct access to their site, so I can only list items they provide to me in a data feed.
Currys: should be in the listings.
Comet: should be in the listings.
PC World should be in the listings.
Ebuyer: As with dabs, they do not allow me direct access to their site, so I can only list items they provide to me in a data feed – and they do not include many cameras in the feed.

Hi There
Really nice idea for a site. Thanks.
Please have a look at Simply Electronics. Although they are an overseas comany, I think they have base in the UK as well.
Their prices are always pretty good and usually offer free shipping. Customer service can be a bit hit and miss. I bought a camcorder a few years back. It turned out to be a French instruction manual inside the box. I complained and they sent me some freebies (memory card and cleaning kit) as well as a manual, to make up for it.
Thanks
Graham

Hi there
Simply do not meet the criteria for a listing on Camera Price Buster. However, if you want to compare them then check out Photino.co.uk which is a sister site to cpb and has no real restrictions on who can be listed. The site is not officially live yet, but it should be fully working and does include listings for Simply.

Hi, I noted that lumix lx5 was being sold somewhere at £39!!! Please could you tell me where this was for sale — there may be slight possibility there is still one for sale . Many thanks.
-
Alas, this was a mistake at my end 🙁
Someone else pointed it out and I removed the erroneous listing, but the price history is still showing it… must get round to amending it!
Sorry.

I’ll second UK Digital
Recently had very good dealings with UK Digital at Clitheroe, Lancashire.
Sony E 50mm f/1.8 OSS Lens £236.95 including next day special delivery postage. Got confirmation of delivery one hour after placing order and they even took the trouble to send a pdf of the Sony cash back offer form.-
OK, thanks, UK digital are starting to appear in the listings now…

One shop that’s made waves recently as they had the D800 for a lot cheaper than other places:
http://www.mathersoflancashire.co.uk/UK stock AFAIK
-
I do have listings for Mathers, but must have missed the D800 for them. Just went to add it, but cannot find it on their site now (I’m sure I saw it earlier when I had a quick look after seeing your comment…)

UKDigital Ltd does not appear. Good prices, UK stock, excellent service and can be contacted by phone or email. Highly recommended.
-
Thanks, I’ll get in touch with them and see if they will let me list them.
