Calumet Photographic Shop Reviews

Placed an order for a Nikon D810, mid afternoon, and paid for delivery next morning: I immediately received an email from Worldpay confirming payment and order confirmation from Calumet. I later noticed that 90 minutes or so after the order, Calumet had sent another, and very gash looking email, requesting I email them copies of photo ID and proof of address. By the time I saw this latest email it was too late to phone them.
I phoned the next morning, and expressed my unwillingness to emailing copies of very personal documents to some fairly random email address.. I was told that it was a very expensive item and they were a reputable company with a London address!!!

I cancelled the order and demanded an immediate refund (my credit card account showed that the payment to them had already gone through).

I really do not see the need for a company to have a photocopy of my passport or driving licence to sell me a camera (especially when they have received payment).

Will not be using this company again.

Although I am a northerner, the only shop I visit is in London, very close to Euston station. I have been thoroughly convinced that I have been dealing with people who know their stuff, and that is extremely important. I think their pricing is appropriately competitive, too.

Always had excellent service. A store with its roots in professional photography and their expertise reflects that.

Great place to shop from, havent had to use their customer service or deal with them re warranties, but what I know of them I like - both in-shop and online. Purchased a Canon 24-70mm lens and got a good price and delivered very quickly.

Ive had a letter from Calumet appologising for the problems I experienced :-O

I usually shop with the Birmingham Branch. Upto 6 months ago they were extremely helpful and they would always webmatch which I liked as I always know where I am with warranties etc. But over recent months they appear to be going through changes. They have dropped the web matching and they dont appear to be as helpful as they were.

For example: I asked over the phone how long it would take to get a service and minor repair carried by Canon on one of my EOS 1D mkII Ns and the reply was "we can send it off and hope for the best" some laughter followed.

Ive found that Calumet has changed but for the better. I have shopped in there and always had a good relationship with them and good banter.

As for repairs they are unable to tell us how long it will be as its not them that do the repairs!

If you ask Calumet to price match they will do their best to do it.

My advise is ask and more than likey youll get it.
