This lens performs very well, it is very sharp and gives good colours and contrast, the image stabilisation is also improved on the earlier models, and it finds focus quickly and accurately , especially if using the range limiting options. There is practically no distortion so it can be used to advantage in copying documents or for portraiture (though to my mind the images actually need softening in the latter case). On top of all that it feels very well engineered and is quite well weather sealed. It is expensive but the quality is there, and in my case I found a used one in "like new" condition at a very good price!

This is the latest version of the Nikon mount Tamron 90mm VC Macro lens. The previous version has an identical name, which makes it very hard to tell them apart. I have tried to get the old and new version in the correct listings, but please check carefully before buying - although they look different, you cannot always rely on the picture..
