This lens in my view is excellent. The image quality is superb as is the build quality. The Sigma 3 year extended warranty also gives extra confidence too, but make sure that the lens is a genuine UK import if you wish to purchase this lens as some dealers import them and Sigma will not offer the extra warranty.
The lens itself is a joy to own and use and it is brilliant value for money. I have had mine for about 6 months and I cannot fault it. The Auto focus and optical stabilisation are first class. I have found that my 17-70 fulfills most of my needs and I use it for 90% of the time. My holiday lens to carry around is a Sigma 18-250 which is superb too. This has a fabulous zoom with great image quality.

Sigma DC 17-70mm f2.8-4 HSM Macro OS - Nikon Fit
The new Sigma 17-70 is a superb lens. By far the best zoom lens I have used to date. Solid build with superb optical performance on professional cameras like the D300/D200.
A dream to use and so very very sharp. To be honest you could leave this lens on your camera for most types of photography. I would say it was an ideal lens for wedding photograhers. The optical stabiliser makes hand-held shots a breeze.
This is the lens that replaced my Sigma EX 24-70 f2.8. So it had a difficult act to follow, but I needed a lighter lens with vibration reduction, macro and HSM.
With optical stablisation it weighs-in at under 500gms, and has fairly decent apertures spread evenly across the 17-70 focal lengths.
I bought it from Clifton Cameras. Next day delivery and well packed which is important for lens purchases online.
