Tried three copies of this lens, all performed differently, not impressed. Bought from Wilkinsons, who were very helpful and changed it on the spot. Ended up buying 11-16 Tokina f2.8 ATX, Obviously not the same range, but believe me an all together better and faster glass. Its up there close to Canons L series IQ and takes 77mm filters.

Bought this lens only recently so I’ve not been able to do too much with it, but it certainly pulls its weight so far - and it is a bit weighty, built like a short wheelbase Land Rover you feel it’ll take whatever you throw at it; with a beautiful clean finish, complete with lens-hood and a quality case that carries the feel of well made eminence to the last detail. So far I’ve used the lens mainly indoors so testing the wide end, there is some distortion at the edges when close in with only limited space but it looks worse on the camera’s screen than turns out to be the case when on the computer and it’s certainly not as bad as I’ve seen on some super wide lenses.
I bought my lens from Martin’s Camera Shop; I use an Olympus E500, or did until just this week when I moved up to the Olympus E3, which I also bought from Martin’s Camera Shop. As you may know Olympus uses the four thirds mount and though Martin’s don’t actually stock Olympus or Sigma lenses in the four thirds mount just yet, this is a new company and still powering up, he was more than happy to help and got me first the lens and then later when I asked if Martin could help again the E3 both within a short time of my walking into the shop.
I’d noticed Martin’s Camera Shop on this site and as they are always very good on price and as they are located in the village of Barwick in Elmet just a few miles from where I live, I thought I’d ask if he could help with the four thirds mount, he was very happy to do so and at a very competitive price.

I purchased this lense last christmas and have been very happy with it. I mainly use it for landscape photography when out walking in mountain areas. The quality of the photos it has produced have been very good. There is a good level of contrast and the images are very sharp.
I find the photos can be a little distorted below 12mm. However 12mm should be pleanty wide enough for most people I would have thought.
