An old but well tried and tested DX camera. Built like a brick and thoroughly professional in its nature, but the weight may not appeal to everyone. Arguably one of the best Nikon digital cameras ever produced. You really have to hold this camera in your hand to appreciate its build quality. Although often criticised for only having an APSC sensor with 12mp output, it is still capable of producing first class results. May be getting on a bit now, but current prices make it something of a bargain.

Theres simply no better semi-professional digital SLR on the market. And, in many respects, it is still the camera to beat in that class - nearly two years later and it is still able to command essentially the same price as at launch (though the strong Yen has pushed all prices up). And this success appears to have left Nikon unsure how to improve on its APS-C flagship.
