Canon offer a large range of Digital SLRs for all levels of experience, an overview of the different models is given here. Select models in the table below to compare the best prices we can find for genuine UK stock cameras.
The most basic entry level SLR is the new 18 megapixel Canon EOS 1300D which replaces the 1200D, aimed at people who have no experience with a digital SLR. The EOS 100D adds a touchscreen and higher ISO.
Next up in the range is the new 18 megapixel Canon EOS 800D, the latest advanced entry level SLR. The EOS 800D features a 24 megapixel sensor, touch screen and wi-fi. The older EOS 750D is still widely available as well and is a fair bit cheaper. These cameras are also aimed at beginners, but offer enough to satisfy more capable photographers. There is also the EOS 760D, which is similar to the 750D but it has a different sensor aimed more at video (all of the SLRs mentioned above support Full HD video).
The mid level Canon SLR is the new 24 megapixel Canon EOS 80D, aimed at photography enthusiasts. This replaces the 20 megapixel EOS 70D in the Canon EOS range. The 77D has also been recently added to the range, and is cheaper and lighter than the 80D, but lacks the weather sealing of the 80D and has some specs more in line with the 800D. There are two current advanced enthusiat DLSRs, the Canon 6D and Canon 7D mark II. The 20 megapixel 7D offers fast 10 frames per second shooting, and a host of advanced features. The Canon EOS 6D, unlike all the models above, is notable (and desirable) for being a full frame SLR, and is the cheapest full frame Canon SLR camera in the range.
There are five current professional Canon EOS models. The full frame Canon EOS 5D Mark IV is an excellent all purpose camera, great for professional portraits, weddings and reportage. It offers an improved 30 megapixel sensor design, a distinct advance on the 22 megapixel sensor used in the older 5D Mark III. The EOS 5DS offers a massive 50 megapixel full frame sensor, and the similar 5DS R has a low-pass cancellation filter to maximise sharpness. Although they are professional cameras, the 5D models are probably the ones that most keen non-professional Canon users will upgrade to. The EOS 1D X Mark II is the flagship model in the professional DSLR range, and featuers a new 20 megapixel sensor, 14 frames per second shooting, 4K 60p video and robust construction.
