Sigma 500mm f/4.5 EX DG HSM Review by Neil Burton on 7th January 2009
I was a little hesitant when buying this lens as it is not a Canon L, which I trust. But for the money you get alot of lens and plenty of satisfaction. It is lighter than comparable Canon offerings, although lacks stabalizer, and far less obvious. Used on a tripod or monopod the lens is easy enough to handle and takes amazingly sharp pictures, even with a 1.4 tele converter attached (I hardly ever remove mine) giving 700mm at f6.3. Focus is fast and quiet and the AF limiter helps stop hunting. 9 blades ensure good Bokeh even with the TC.
Highly reccomend this lens to anyone wanting wildlife on a budget, and definately get yourself a 1.4 TC!
