Had this lens for a week now and am loving it - with reservations! It wasnt an instant hit, as the first day was a really dull grey day and the camera shake at the upper end (when not using Image Stabilisation) was unacceptable. However I did achieve one shot which I thought was great (and made it my flickr photostream at #2, out of 4000+ in their "most interesting" definition)!
Since then, in better light I have been extremely pleased with the close-up wildlife shots I have taken. It focuses pin-sharp, has extraordinarily little distortion and produces the goods.
On the con side it is heavy and the E510 feels unbalanced with it on a tripod.
