This is my first D-SLR and I am really impressed. I decided to go for the 30D as opposed to the 350D as I wanted to go some way towards future-proofing my purchase (the 5D was beyond my budget so I didnt really consider it) and I definitely made the right decision. Even in my novice hands, this camera has enabled me to produce some great shots. I found it easy to get to grips with from day one; 8 months later, as my knowledge grows and my technique improves, this camera still never disappoints. I am now shooting RAW in manual mode (aperture priority for wild birds and wildlife) and experimenting with the metering and drive modes and I still feel confident and in control. This camera makes me smile whenever I use it.
