WB850F..... pretty amazing really; I had always reconed that Canon made the best compact cameras, especially under low light conditions but as I wanted to try something with wifi capability, I bought this Samsung tax-free at the airport on the way to my recent short holiday. The performance is impressive, from the extra wide-angle lens (with 21x zoom) to the AMOLED rear screen which is so much better in strong sunlight than "plain old" ordinary LCDs. Samsung apps mean that you can control the samera remotely from an Android phone, and also transfer files to the phone, but it doesnt re-size them when you do this, so shooting at max resolution means that they can take a couple of minutes each to transfer. The GPS facility has to be enabled by downloading the relvant country maps onto the camera, so as I took only a netbook with no CD drive on holiday, I did not get any GPS data on my images... had to sort this out when I returned home and of course it cannot retrospectively add the data to existing files. Note that the GPS data etc seems to be stored on the SD card, so you cannot format it in-camera without deleting and having to re-install.... so if you usually reformat your memory card to get rid of all images on it, rather than deleting them one-by-one, this could be an issue for you.
Image quality is very good although occasionally the camera over or under exposes, so Samsung havent got their exposure algorithms quite to Canons level of sophistication! However using even basic photo editing software to adjust brightness and contrast means that you can come up with excellent results with minimal effort almost every time (and anyway, almost all photos will be perfectly exposed). Not the smallest or lightest compact camera, ut currently it must be one of the very best, especially if you like your technology and added bells/whistles.
